The Experience
47km of River. Zero Chill.
Thunder Jet is Queenstown's big-water jet boat ride - a full-throttle blast from the lake into the braided channels of the Kawarau River. Your driver threads the boat centimetres from canyon walls, skims across shallows barely deeper than your ankle, and just when you think you've got the rhythm, spins the whole boat through a full 360.
These purpose-built jets were made for exactly this water. With every seat getting a clear view and a solid soaking of spray, there's no bad spot on the boat - just hold on, laugh, and let the driver do the arguing with physics.

Children must be at least 2 years old, weigh over 13kg and fit our smallest life jacket. Children must be 12+ years old to ride on the jet boat without an adult, subject to driver discretion.
What are your weight restrictions?
You just need to be over 13kg. There are no upper weight limits.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes. Jet boating is an excellent family activity to be enjoyed by all. Bring your kids, they will love it!
Can I take my camera?
Yes, you may take your camera. We do plenty of photo stops so it's definitely worth it - this is at your own risk.
Will I get wet?
Possibly. Spray jackets are NOT provided. Please bring a waterproof jacket with you! You'll want to dress warmer than the weather conditions so bring an extra layer or two.
Can I take my bag?
We have a safe locker for you to store your valuables. If it is necessary to take a small bag for medical reasons, this will not be a problem - just let the friendly staff know.
Will I get seasick?
Jet boating should not make you feel seasick. Thunder Jet goes down the river where it is calmest even when the lake is rough.
Can I ride on the jet boat if pregnant?
We don't recommend going jet boating while pregnant, unfortunately.
